Venture out of town and into the lush countryside for a day of movement, creation and community at White Barn Blooms, a small woman-owned cut-flower farm, an hour east of Ottawa.

After a warm welcome, we'll settle in for a one-hour all-levels outdoor yoga practice with a view of the flower gardens. The practice will ground your body, calm your mind, and open your senses. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a a light lunch of locally-sourced ingredients.

Then the flower fun begins! We'll be treated to a personalized tour of the flower gardens by Liza, owner of White Barn Blooms. She’ll talk about the farm's origin story and provide guidance on flower slection and bouquet creation. We’ll then select and hand-cut our own blooms to create a stunning personal bouquet to take home! This mini-retreat will help you slow down into mindful presence and creativity.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • The yoga practice, lunch and bouquet-making will take place in the shade.

  • The garden tour and flower cutting will be in open, unshaded areas.

  • There will be water and lemonade available on-site.

  • Lunch options will be shared with registered participants 1-2 weeks ahead of time.

    • Vegan/vegetarian options will be available.

  • A portable washroom facility is available to guests.

WHAT TO BRING

  • your yoga mat and your favourite yoga props

  • a water bottle

  • sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, insect repellant

  • your creativity!!

REGISTRATION & PAYMENT INFORMATION

Tickets are $95 + hst (total $107.35).

Payment must be received within 48 hours of booking to confirm your spot.

Transport to the event is not included in the ticket price. Car pooling is encouraged! White Barn Blooms is located at 4501 Pearl Road, L’Orignal, ON, K0B 1K0, which is a scenic one hour east of central Ottawa.

Flow Through Time: A Yoga Fundraiser for the Bytown Museum

with Ellen Bertrand, in collaboration with The Bytown Museum

Celebrate the 200th anniversary of the founding of modern-day Ottawa with a morning of yoga at one of Ottawa's most historic locations - all in support of the Bytown Museum.

Join Ellen Bertrand, founder of Yoga Kāla, experienced Ottawa yoga teacher, local tour guide, and a member of the Bytown Museum’s Board of Directors, for a one-hour, all-levels yoga class in a truly unforgettable setting.

Weather permitting, the class will take place outdoors behind the museum, at the foot of the Ottawa Locks, with breathtaking views of the Ottawa River, the Rideau Canal, and surrounding historic architecture. In case of rain, the class will move inside the Bytown Museum, Ottawa’s oldest stone building, nestled at the foot of Parliament Hill.

After the class, enjoy light refreshments and early access to the museum before public hours. You may also consider going for a swim at the new NCC dock, a very short walk away!

Ticket sales will include a donation tax receipt and all proceeds supporting the Bytown Museum’s preservation and programming initiatives.

Bring your mat and a sense of curiosity. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.

DETAILS

What: a one-hour outdoor yoga class behind the Bytown Museum, followed by a the museum’s famous freshly squeezed lemonade, and an opportunity to tour the museum.

When: Sunday, August 16, 20256

9:30 am - 10:30 am: Yoga Class

10:30 am - 11:00 am: Enjoy a refreshing and freshly squeezed lemonade and a light snack, then explore the museum.

Please note: in the event of rain, the class will take place inside the museum.

What to Bring: a yoga mat, water bottle, sunglasses and sun protection. Dress in layers. 

Cost: $45 per person with all proceeds going directly to the museum! You will receive a $30 donation tax receipt.

Other Notes: There are restrooms in the museum. A few mats will be available to borrow.
